In the late hours of a Thursday in Appling, Georgia, the life of 23-year-old Tennis Alexander Milam, a White/Caucasian male known affectionately as Alex, came to a tragic and abrupt end. On March 3, 2016, a heated argument between Alex and his girlfriend, Amanda Whisenhunt, escalated within their shared home on North Tubman Road. The confrontation grew so intense that Alex's stepfather, Anthony Thomas Sherrill, felt it necessary to call 911 for assistance.
The situation took a
devastating turn when Alex, who was armed with a gun, confronted his stepfather about the call to the authorities. In response to the armed confrontation, Sherrill, who had also armed himself, discharged his weapon, fatally wounding his stepson. The single shot was later determined by authorities to be an act of self-defense.
An investigation into the shooting was conducted, revealing a history of domestic disputes between Alex and his girlfriend, as well as previous incidents of disorderly conduct involving Alex. The authorities ultimately concluded that Sherrill's actions were justified under the circumstances of the immediate threat. Consequently, no charges were filed against him, and the case was closed without any arrests being made.
