On July 26, 2011, Jones became a victim of a triple homicide that took place inside a home on Nicholas Avenue. He was discovered, along with his friend Tanyika Gibbs and her father, Billie Ray Lovitt, after firefighters were called to the scene to extinguish a fire that had been intentionally set.

Lovitt revealed that all three had been shot in the head. The act of setting the house on fire was a brazen attempt to conceal the brutal murders that had taken place.
