Robert Franklin McRae Sr., a 72-year-old white male, was found dead on January 29, 1989, in his home in Graceville, Florida. He and his wife, Kathryn McRae, were discovered in their kitchen, both having been shot in the head. The couple's deaths were ruled as homicides, and the initial investigation suggested a home invasion, although robbery was later ruled out as the primary motive.
