Joey F. Summerall, a 13-year-old male, tragically lost his life on September 29, 1995, in Tavares, Florida. Joey, a special-education student at Tavares Middle School, was shot and killed by a classmate during a class change. The incident occurred in a crowded breezeway, where Joey was shot multiple times in the head and chest. The shooter, a 14-year-old boy named Keith Johnson, had a history of disciplinary issues and claimed he was being bullied by Joey.
