On April 13, 1996, Timwanika Lumpkins, a 22-year-old African American woman, was found brutally murdered in an apartment in Dade City, Florida. The incident also involved Marlin Barnes, a linebacker for the University of Miami Hurricanes, who was discovered gravely injured at the scene.
