In the winter of 2013, a young life was cut short on the streets of East Baltimore. Devonte Jabrell Mckeever, a 22-year-old Black male, was fatally shot on the night of Saturday, December 14th. The incident occurred at approximately 10:45 p.m. in the 200 block of Aisquith Street in the Pleasant View Gardens neighborhood.
Responding to reports of a shooting, Baltimore Police officers arrived at the scene to find Mckeever suffering from several gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital for medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical staff, Devonte Jabrell Mckeever succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on Sunday, December 15, 2013.
The initial investigation into Mckeever's death was handled by the Baltimore Police Department's homicide unit. However, publicly available information from online sources does not contain details regarding any arrests made or suspects identified in connection with this case. The circumstances leading up to the shooting and a motive have not been released.
More than a decade later, the case remains without a public resolution. There is no information available in online sources detailing any suspects, arrests, charges, trials, or convictions in the murder of Devonte Jabrell Mckeever. His death is a cold statistic in the city's history of gun violence, a story without a final chapter.
