The investigation revealed that Christopher Rossi had
killed his 81-year-old father, Peter Rossi, and a 79-year-old woman named Adele Frieda Piazza, who was from Vero Beach. Peter Rossi was found wrapped in a carpet inside the garage, while Piazza's body was discovered in a large container covered with lye, also in the garage. Piazza was the widow of Peter Rossi's cousin, and she routinely visited the Rossi home on weekends.
The police suspect that Christopher Rossi killed his father and Piazza sometime between Sunday and Wednesday before his own death on Thursday. The motive behind the killings remains unclear, but the investigation indicated that there had been ongoing domestic strife within the Rossi household. In 2012, Christopher Rossi had allegedly written a $1,000 check to himself from his father's account and vandalized Piazza's car because he did not like her weekend visits.
