Darin Booker, a 13-year-old boy from Florida City, FL, tragically lost his life on August 3, 2014, due to a gunshot wound. The incident occurred just blocks from his home, where a group of family friends had gathered. According to witnesses, Curtis Hollinger, a 15-year-old, brought out a gun and began showing it off. Believing he had fully unloaded the weapon, Hollinger fired it three times.
Unfortunately, the gun was still loaded, and on the third attempt, a bullet was discharged, striking Darin Booker in the chest. Despite immediate efforts to save him, Darin succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Following the incident, Curtis Hollinger fled the scene and attempted to hide the weapon in nearby bushes. He initially provided false statements to the police but eventually confessed to the shooting during questioning. Hollinger revealed that he had purchased the gun illegally from another minor.
