Richard Burgos, a 23-year-old resident of Kissimmee, Florida, tragically lost his life on November 27, 2016, in Orlando, Florida. Burgos was found lying in the middle of the street at Central Boulevard and Orange Avenue with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite being rushed to Orlando Regional Medical Center, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 2:40 a.m., when police officers responded to the sound of gunshots in the area.
The investigation into Burgos's death revealed that the shooting might have been connected to a brawl at a Halloween party in St. Cloud. Two suspects, Raul Suarez-Rosario, 23, and Kenneth Lara-Feliz, 20, were initially arrested in connection with the shooting. However, due to conflicting witness accounts, they could not be charged immediately. Lara-Feliz was released on bond after being jailed on resisting arrest charges, while Suarez-Rosario remained in custody for violating the terms of his probation. Subsequently, arrest warrants on charges of first-degree murder were issued for both individuals. A third person, Tara Sanchez-Smith, 32, was charged with providing false information to detectives. Suarez-Rosario was served his warrant while in jail, but Lara-Feliz remained at large.
The case drew significant attention from the local community and media, with police urging anyone with information to come forward. The investigation highlighted the challenges law enforcement faced in gathering reliable witness testimonies and piecing together the events leading up to the shooting.
