On a summer evening in Baltimore, tragedy struck in the 900 block of West Fayette Street. It was shortly after 10:30 p.m. on July 7, 2015, near the University of Maryland-Baltimore campus, when a violent and targeted attack shattered the night. Lamont Randell, a 39-year-old Black / African American male, was among a crowd of people when the unthinkable happened. Two vans, one burgundy and the other white, pulled up near the group. From each vehicle, at least one individual emerged and began firing into the crowd.
The sudden burst of gunfire left chaos and devastation in its wake. When the shooting stopped, three lives had been tragically cut short. Alongside Lamont Randell, Gerald Thompson, 34, and Jacqueline Parker, 53, were also killed in the assault. A fourth victim, a woman, was struck by a bullet in the buttocks but survived the ordeal and was reported to be in good condition.
Baltimore Police homicide detectives quickly began their investigation, believing the shooting was a targeted crime and not a random act of violence. They estimated that three to four individuals were involved in the deadly attack. Despite their efforts and public appeals for information, the case has grown cold over the years. No significant updates or arrests have been reported in connection with the murders of Lamont Randell, Gerald Thompson, and Jacqueline Parker.
