Arlene Mira Weston, a 59-year-old woman from Big Pine Key, Florida, tragically died on February 8, 2018. She was found dead alongside her husband, Leslie Arthur Weston, 53, in their trailer on Avenue D. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office reported that both individuals appeared to have died from gunshot wounds in what was believed to be a murder-suicide. A firearm was discovered next to Leslie Arthur Weston, indicating he had shot his wife before turning the gun on himself.

The investigation revealed that Arlene Mira Weston had been suffering from an incurable medical condition, which led her to request her husband to end her life. Leslie Arthur Weston called a friend on the night of the incident, informing them of his actions and his intention to commit suicide. This friend subsequently alerted the authorities.

Detectives also noted that the couple had been experiencing significant stress due to the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, which had devastated parts of the Lower and Middle Keys, including Big Pine Key. The hurricane's impact had left many residents, including the Westons, struggling to rebuild their lives, adding to their emotional and psychological burden.

There were no arrests or suspects beyond Leslie Arthur Weston, as the evidence pointed towards a consensual murder-suicide. The case did not lead to any further litigations or law cases, and the investigation concluded with the determination that the deaths were consistent with the circumstances described by Leslie Arthur Weston.
