In the pre-dawn hours of a Saturday in northeast Baltimore, the quiet of a residential street was shattered by the sound of gunfire. On November 7, 2015, 38-year-old Robert Joseph Adams, a Black/African American male, was fatally shot in what police would describe as a double homicide. The incident also claimed the life of 37-year-old Lerell McBride.
The shooting occurred shortly before 3 a.m. on Chesterfield Avenue.
When police arrived at the scene, they found McBride, who had died there. Adams was rushed to a nearby hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries. The city at the time was experiencing a significant increase in homicides compared to the previous year.
