On September 19, 2020, Jametric Darrell Facyson, a 24-year-old African American male from Saint Petersburg, Florida, tragically lost his life. Jametric, who had served in the U.S. Army, was involved in a fatal incident that occurred in the early hours of the morning. The events unfolded at the Emporium Lounge, a local gentleman's club, where a large altercation broke out inside the establishment. The altercation led to several hundred patrons, including Jametric, exiting the club and gathering in the parking lot.

As the situation escalated, Gai Makir Marwil, a 32-year-old man, was identified as the suspect. Marwil, who was leaving the scene in his vehicle, opened fire, striking Jametric Darrell Facyson. The shooting resulted in Jametric's immediate death at the scene. Following the shooting, Marwil fled the location but was involved in a single-vehicle crash shortly after on Interstate 275 at 54th Avenue North. He was subsequently taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office conducted an investigation and identified Marwil as the suspect through various investigative techniques. Marwil was charged with first-degree murder and felon in possession of a firearm. Once released from the hospital, he was taken into custody and held at the Pinellas County Jail. The case remains under investigation as authorities continue to gather more information and evidence related to the incident.
