Dannyelle Mari White, a 33-year-old woman from Marianna, Florida, tragically lost her life on October 1, 2020. Her death occurred during a robbery that escalated into a fatal shooting. On that fateful night, White was seated in the passenger seat of a truck outside the Fairfield Inn near Interstate 10 and Highway 71. The incident was initially reported as a pre-arranged drug deal that went awry.
During the robbery, White was shot and died instantly from her injuries.
The investigation into White's death led to the arrest of multiple individuals. Bryn Martin Spivey, aged 30 at the time, was identified as the mastermind behind the robbery. He was found in a hotel room shortly after the incident and was charged with murder and robbery. Daquan Daren Walker, 25, was also arrested and charged with murder and robbery. Walker was named as an accomplice during the investigation and was initially charged with robbery before further evidence led to the murder charge.
The legal proceedings that followed saw significant developments. In December 2023, four men were sentenced for their roles in the robbery and shooting that resulted in White's death. Bryn Spivey, who orchestrated the robbery, was sentenced to 50 years in prison. Garen Dickens, one of the men who carried out the robbery, received a 45-year sentence. Daquan Walker, who was present during the shooting and took a bag from White after she was shot, was sentenced to 40 years in prison. Devarroius Winbush, who acted as the driver for Dickens and Walker, was sentenced to 25 years in prison for being an accessory after the fact to murder.
During the trial, both Walker and Dickens provided similar accounts of the events, each claiming the other was the one who discharged the shotgun that killed White. The court proceedings highlighted the collaborative nature of the crime, with each individual playing a role in the tragic outcome. The sentencing judge emphasized the equal culpability of Walker and Dickens, reflecting this in their sentences.
The case of Dannyelle Mari White's death underscores the devastating consequences of criminal activities and the complex legal processes involved in seeking justice. The coordinated efforts of law enforcement and the judicial system ultimately led to the conviction and sentencing of those responsible for her untimely death.
