On the morning of
November 23, 2020, Ta’Liyah was found fatally shot at Normandy Park in Jacksonville. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office quickly responded to the scene and identified her boyfriend, Deiondre Reshod Lewis, as the primary suspect. Witnesses reported hearing a single gunshot following an argument between Ta’Liyah and Lewis. Lewis was apprehended less than a mile from the scene, and a weapon was recovered nearby.
Deiondre Reshod Lewis, 22, was charged with second-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a felon, and carrying a concealed firearm. The investigation revealed that Ta’Liyah had been trying to leave an abusive relationship with Lewis. Her uncle, Timothy Williams, confirmed that she had not spoken up about the abuse she was enduring. Lewis, a convicted felon with a history of criminal activity, was held without bond following his arrest.
