On May 1, 2021, 20-year-old Evereonna Sankey from Lehigh Acres, Florida, attended the annual Brown Sugar Festival in Clewiston. The festival, held in the Harlem Community of Clewiston, was a popular local event. Tragically, around 9:30 PM, gunfire erupted, resulting in Evereonna's death and injuries to four others. The sudden violence shocked attendees and left the community in mourning.
