Henry Lewelling, aged 41, served as the first Town Marshal of Arroyo Grande, California. His tenure began in November 1903, following four years of experience as a Deputy Sheriff. Tragically, his service was cut short when he was fatally shot on March 28, 1904. The incident occurred while Lewelling was responding to a disturbance caused by George Roberts, who was firing a gun in the downtown streets.
