George Elmer Estes, a 39-year-old police officer from Colton, California, tragically lost his life on April 13, 1923. Officer Estes was escorting three burglary suspects to the police station when one of the men attacked him and shot him in the head. This incident occurred in front of the Colton police station, and Estes was killed instantly. The suspects fled the scene, leading to a massive manhunt involving hundreds of armed men and multiple law enforcement agencies.
