Donald C. Y. Kwan, aged 20, tragically lost his life on September 4, 1977, in San Francisco, California. He was one of the victims of the infamous Golden Dragon massacre, a gang-related mass shooting that took place inside the Golden Dragon Restaurant in Chinatown. The massacre was a result of a violent feud between two rival Chinatown gangs, the Joe Boys and the Wah Ching.
