Cody Boyd, a 26-year-old man, was awaiting a haircut on the afternoon of Tuesday, January 10, 2017, inside the 'A Cut Above All' barbershop in East Baltimore. The ordinary day took a horrific turn when three masked individuals entered the establishment, which was filled with employees and other customers. The assailants targeted Boyd, shooting him multiple times in what police described as an 'execution-style' killing.
The brazen attack was captured on surveillance video, which showed
the trio of suspects carrying out the shooting. In a particularly chilling detail, the footage revealed one of the gunmen re-entering the barbershop moments after the initial barrage to fire additional shots at Boyd. The suspects then fled the scene in a four-door red Nissan. Police believe Boyd was specifically targeted by his attackers.
An off-duty police officer who was nearby spotted the suspects' red Nissan and attempted to follow them but was unable to keep up due to traffic. Despite the public nature of the crime and the available surveillance footage, the three masked suspects remained at large. At the time of the incident, authorities stated they had no evidence to suggest the murder was related to gang initiation or retaliation. Cody D. Boyd, born on May 7, 1990, in Baltimore, was remembered by his family and friends as someone who enjoyed life and was often seen with a smile. He left behind a daughter, his parents, and numerous other family members and friends.
