Candido Salazar, a 43-year-old Latino man, was tragically killed on August 9, 2008, in Paramount, California. The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. in the 8000 block of Rose Street, where Salazar and his neighbor, Jose Villa, were having a barbecue in the parking lot of their apartment complex. The peaceful gathering turned deadly when two young Latino men approached and opened fire on Salazar and Villa. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
