Joseph S. "Joe" Ortega, aged 80, tragically lost his life on December 24, 2008, in Covina, California, during a horrific event known as the Covina massacre. This incident occurred at his annual Christmas Eve party, which he hosted at his home on Knollcrest Drive. The massacre was perpetrated by Bruce Jeffrey Pardo, the ex-husband of Ortega's daughter, Sylvia.
