Chavin Lafonn Hannah, a 46-year-old man from Los Angeles, was tragically shot and killed on June 6, 2016, in the Green Meadows neighborhood. According to the Los Angeles County coroner’s records, the incident occurred in the 11800 block of Stanford Avenue. On that day, shortly before 3 p.m., the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call reporting an assault with a deadly weapon and shots fired.
Upon arrival, officers found Hannah in the passenger seat of a light-colored car, already deceased from gunshot wounds. A woman nearby, who had also been shot in the finger, was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Investigators believe that a dark-colored vehicle traveling south on Stanford Avenue stopped next to the light-colored car Hannah was in, and someone inside the dark vehicle fired multiple rounds from the passenger side before continuing south. The police are searching for at least two suspects in connection with the shooting. Hannah, who was on disability leave from his job as a butcher at the VA Hospital in West Los Angeles, had plans to transfer to the VA in Las Vegas. He was a father of three and had an infant grandchild.
The investigation into Hannah's death is ongoing, with the Criminal Gang Homicide Division handling the case. Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward, offering anonymity through Crime Stoppers. Despite the passage of time, the case remains unresolved, and the search for the perpetrators continues. Hannah's family, including his older sister Kim, who fondly remembered him as her "baby brother," continues to seek justice for his untimely death.
