In the city of New Orleans, a 19-year-old Black male named Damien Joseph was shot and killed in February of 2011. The promising life of the young man was tragically cut short by an act of violence that would later be echoed in his own family.

Three years after Damien’s death, his younger brother, 17-year-old Dwayne Matthew Joseph, met a similarly tragic fate. Dwayne was also shot and killed in New Orleans, leaving their family to grapple with the devastating loss of two sons to gun viol ...
