On August 14, 2018, the bodies of Tiffany Marie Ellebrecht, 31, and Jeremy Dieter Kuemmel, 32, were discovered in a burning vehicle near the Ettersburg Junction in Garberville, California. The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) conducted autopsies which revealed that both victims had died from gunshot wounds. The vehicle was found engulfed in flames on Briceland Road, and the discovery of the bodies led to a significant investigation by local authorities.
