On September 6, 2018, Bryan Chavez, a 15-year-old boy from Santa Ana, California, was found dead on a street in the 1000 block of West Richland Avenue. The Santa Ana police responded to a report of a shooting early that morning and discovered Chavez with a gunshot wound to his upper body. Despite the efforts of the Orange County Fire Authority paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene. A gun was recovered nearby, which was believed to have been used in the shooting.
