Juan Carter, 26, was killed in New Orleans on July 7, 2011, when a black truck pulled up beside him and opened fire as he traveled with his mother to a court hearing. Carter was on his way to face a double murder charge from a 2010 incident. His family expressed that this attack denied Carter the opportunity to prove his innocence in that case.
