Chiana Hunter, a 37-year-old woman from Corona, CA, tragically lost her life on August 16, 2020, in a violent incident that also left her 15-year-old son injured. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning at their residence in Eastvale, a city within Riverside County. According to reports, deputies responded to a shooting call around 1 a.m. and found both Chiana and her son suffering from gunshot wounds.
Despite emergency treatment efforts, Chiana succumbed to her injuries at the scene, while her son was transported to a hospital and survived the attack.
The primary suspect in this case was Chiana's husband, Rahman Hunter, who was 40 years old at the time. Following the shooting, Rahman fled the scene, prompting a manhunt by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. He was apprehended later that day in San Bernardino County. Rahman was subsequently charged with the murder of his wife and the attempted murder of his son. The authorities indicated that the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute, which escalated to a fatal confrontation.
In the legal proceedings that followed, Rahman Hunter admitted to the charges against him, including murder and attempted murder, as well as additional charges related to the use of a firearm and causing great bodily injury.
