Death by Force

A 22-year-old Latino male named David James Castillo was killed in a shooting on December 21, 2020, in East Los Angeles. The shooting occurred in the 5600 block of Via Corona Avenue around 5:35 p.m. Castillo died at the scene, while a 31-year-old man who was with him was wounded and survived. The coroner confirmed Castillo’s death as a homicide, and detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department opened a full investigation.
