Luis Alberto Garcia, a 31-year-old Latino male, tragically lost his life on March 22, 2021, in Pomona, California. According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records, Garcia was shot near 1715 W. Holt Ave. The incident occurred when police responded to a crash at the intersection of Holt Boulevard and Erie Street, where they found Garcia in a crashed pickup truck with a gunshot wound.
He was immediately taken to a hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into Garcia's death led to significant developments nearly a year later. On February 16, 2022, Pomona residents Aurelio Camarillo, 44, and Luis Silva, 28, were arrested in connection with the murder. Camarillo faced multiple charges, including murder, shooting at an occupied vehicle, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Silva was charged as an accessory after the fact. Both suspects confessed their involvement in the crime to detectives, although the motive behind the shooting and the exact sequence of events were not disclosed.
