Timothy Shawn "Chance" Aulston, aged 30, tragically lost his life on May 13, 2021, in Lake Isabella, California. The incident occurred outside a home on Curran Way, where deputies responded to a distress call from a woman who reported that her boyfriend had shot and killed a man. Upon arrival, deputies found Aulston face down at the bottom of the porch steps, with blood coming from his head. Subsequent investigations revealed that bullets had struck his head, right lung, throat, and right clavicle.
The perpetrator, Juan Angel Acevedo, 40, was not present when deputies arrived but was later apprehended. Acevedo admitted to the shooting, claiming that Aulston had disrespected him by repeatedly challenging him to a fight and refusing to leave. According to court documents, Acevedo stated that Aulston had been "asking for it." Witnesses reported that both men had used drugs and that Acevedo had threatened Aulston two days prior to the incident.
Acevedo was charged with voluntary manslaughter after pleading no contest, and a charge of first-degree murder was dismissed. He was sentenced to 32 years in prison.
