Stacy Corley, a 25-year-old resident of Concord, California, tragically lost his life on June 17, 2021, in Walnut Creek. Corley, an aspiring rapper and DoorDash delivery driver, was fatally shot during a road rage incident while making a delivery. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. near North California Boulevard and Ygnacio Valley Road. Corley had just picked up food from Mod Pizza and was on his way back to his apartment when he was confronted by individuals in another vehicle.
The confrontation escalated, leading to multiple shots being fired into Corley's vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
The investigation quickly identified the suspects involved in the shooting. Dylan Baker, an 18-year-old from Martinez, was charged with murder and personal use of a firearm. Witnesses reported that the altercation began when someone in Baker's car accused Corley of cutting them off. Corley allegedly responded by raising his middle finger, prompting Baker to open fire. Baker later turned himself in to authorities and remains in custody with a bail set at $2 million. Two other individuals, Jaesin Collado, 22, and a 17-year-old juvenile, were also arrested in connection with the case but were later released. Collado and the juvenile faced charges as accessories to the murder.
The case has garnered significant attention due to the senseless nature of the crime and the young age of the suspects involved. Corley's mother, Kimberley Banks, has been vocal about the impact of her son's death, describing him as a creative and loving individual who had much to offer the world. The Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office continues to pursue the case, with Baker facing a potential prison term of 50 years to life if convicted. The investigation remains active, and authorities have urged anyone with additional information to come forward.
