An aspiring rapper is shot 9 times
Donald Isadore Barge Jr., a 20-year-old African-American male, was an aspiring rapper from New Orleans known by the name 'Beezle'. By all accounts, he was not involved in a violent lifestyle and was known to keep to himself. He had a passion for his music, and his friends said he wanted to be known for his art.
On the evening of January 25, 2014, at approximately 6:00 pm in the Algiers neighborhood of New Orleans, Donald was leaving a home on Odeon Street in his blue vehicle. As he drove away, an unknown assailant opened fire, striking him nine times. Despite his severe injuries, he managed to drive a couple of blocks before crashing into a fence and coming to a stop in the front yard of a home on Ptolemy Street. He was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The case of Donald's death remains an open and unsolved cold case. Authorities have not publicly identified a motive or any suspects in the shooting. Over a year after the incident, his family continued to plead with the community for any information that could lead to the killer's identification. Detectives with the New Orleans cold case division have expressed their frustration with the case, stating that Donald had no significant criminal record. His family continues to seek justice and answers in his death.
