On March 16, 2022, Yesica Elisalde, a 30-year-old woman from Porterville, California, was found with multiple gunshot wounds inside a vehicle on Villa Street, north of Olive Avenue. Despite being rushed to a local hospital, she succumbed to her injuries. The Porterville Police Department quickly launched an investigation into her death, identifying two primary suspects: 33-year-old Yvette Carrillo and 28-year-old Douglas Paul.
Both were apprehended following a search warrant executed at a residence on West Median Circle. During the search, a drone captured footage of Paul discarding two firearms into a neighbor's yard. Both Carrillo and Paul were subsequently arrested and charged with murder.
Further investigation revealed that two additional individuals, 55-year-old Michael Paul and 36-year-old Jesus Nuno, were also present at the scene. All four individuals were found to be convicted felons and were in possession of firearms and ammunition, which they were legally prohibited from having. Michael Paul and Jesus Nuno faced charges related to gun possession, while Yvette Carrillo and Douglas Paul were held without bail on murder charges.
