On July 18, 2022, Jose Padilla, a 28-year-old resident of Pomona, California, was tragically shot and killed at the Claremont Lodge located at 736 S. Indian Hill Blvd in Claremont. The incident occurred around 12:10 a.m. when Claremont Police responded to reports of gunshots in the area. Upon arrival, officers found Padilla suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the parking lot.
