In the early hours of a summer morning in New Orleans, the life of Wesley Keith Nelson, a 53-year-old African-American man, was tragically cut short. On July 31, 2015, at approximately 1:23 a.m., Nelson was found shot multiple times in the 7800 block of Venice Boulevard in the New Orleans East area. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The initial investigation into Nelson's death led authorities to identify a suspect. Through witness cooperation, detectives were able to name 32-year-old ...
