On a grim Thursday morning, November 10, 2016, the life of 36-year-old Shari Robbins was tragically cut short in a violent act that shook the community of Jamestown, New York. A dedicated certified nursing assistant and beautician at Heritage Ministries, Shari was ambushed in a parking lot on Prospect Street as she arrived for work. It was there that her estranged husband, Keith L.
Robbins, then 36, fatally shot her in what authorities would describe as a targeted attack.
The shooting sparked an intense, five-day manhunt for Keith Robbins, who fled the scene, leaving the city on edge. Investigators located his vehicle a few hours after the incident, but Robbins himself remained at large, believed to be armed and dangerous. The search involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Jamestown Police Department and the New York State Police, who followed up on numerous leads to locate him. The community held its breath, hoping for a swift and peaceful resolution.
The search culminated in a tense, six-hour standoff at a residence on Todd Avenue in the early morning hours of November 15. Acting on a tip, police surrounded the home where Keith Robbins had barricaded himself. During the standoff, a police K-9 named Mitchell was sent into the attic to apprehend him and was stabbed by Robbins. Ultimately, negotiators were able to persuade Robbins to surrender, and he was taken into custody.
Following his arrest, Keith Robbins was indicted by a grand jury and charged with second-degree murder and injuring a police animal. In December 2017, a judge sentenced him to 25 years in state prison, followed by five years of supervised release.
