In the summer of 2019 in Buffalo, New York, a weekend that should have been filled with celebration took a tragic turn, leaving a family and community mourning the loss of a young life. On the night of Friday, June 28th, 16-year-old Anthony Douglas II, a male student of Cheektowaga Central and Maryvale high schools, was fatally shot on Oakmont Avenue. His death was part of a violent weekend in the city that saw another man also lose his life to gun violence in a separate incident.
