John McNamara, a 45-year-old policeman, tragically lost his life on March 21, 1905, in Curtis Bay, Maryland. McNamara was shot and killed while attempting to arrest a man he caught stealing coal from the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. The suspect, armed with a .38 caliber revolver, fired at McNamara, striking him in the chest. Despite McNamara's efforts to apprehend the thief, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
