Double shooting leaves 24 year old dead On a humid New Orleans evening, 24-year-old Terrance Alford, an African-American male, was fatally shot on July 9, 2017. The night took a tragic turn after Alford had attended a party on Conti Street and was getting a ride home with a friend's cousin.
The driver of the white Honda made a stop at his girlfriend's residence in the 1900 block of North Johnson Street.
It was there that an unidentified gunman emerged from the shadows of nearby bushes and opened fire on the vehicle, striking it multiple times. In an attempt to escape the assault, the driver sped away from the scene, managing to travel about 700 yards before stopping at a Rally's restaurant at the intersection of St. Bernard Avenue and Galvez Street.
Law enforcement was alerted to the shooting by a call reporting shots fired on North Johnson Street at approximately 10:25 p.m. Around the same time, officers were flagged down by someone at the restaurant where the victims had stopped. Upon their arrival, they discovered Terrance Alford inside the car with fatal gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle had also been shot and was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
In the years following the shooting, authorities have not publicly identified a motive or any suspects in the killing of Terrance Alford. As of the latest available information, the case remains an open and unsolved homicide, with no arrests having been made.
