In the early morning hours of December 28, 2012, in the 6000 block of Moravia Park Drive in Baltimore, Maryland, Daniel James Schaefer, a 35-year-old White male, was shot during the course of a robbery. The violent encounter left him with devastating injuries that he would battle for the next decade of his life.
