Da'Journ Holmes, age 26, was fatally shot on October 14, 2017, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. His death was one of several homicides that occurred within what has been termed the "Murder Triangle," an area in Baton Rouge known for a high concentration of violent crime. The surge in violence, including Holmes's death, was attributed in part to gang conflicts and drug-related turf wars, which have remained a persistent issue in this part of the city.
