On the quiet evening of Thursday, May 3, 2018, a tragic event unfolded in a home in Street, Maryland, that ended the life of 72-year-old Brenda Johns. A concerned family member discovered Brenda and her husband, Charles Johns, also 72, inside their residence on the 3600 block of Conowingo Road and promptly called for help.
When Harford County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the scene around 10:15 p.m., they found Brenda Johns deceased from a gunshot wound.
In a separate room, her husband was also found deceased from what investigators determined to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation, led by the Harford County Sheriff's Office, pointed to a murder-suicide. Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division were assigned to delve into the circumstances leading up to the tragic event, though a motive was not immediately clear. The case centered on Charles Johns as the perpetrator in the death of his wife.
