James Adam Culick, a 28-year-old male, was fatally shot on the evening of Thursday, October 8, 2015, in the parking lot of a McDonald's in Lake City, South Carolina. The Florence County Coroner's Office confirmed his identity and that he succumbed to his injuries shortly after the shooting.
At the time of the incident, Lake City Police quickly identified a suspect in connection with the shooting, although a name was not immediately released to the public.

Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of Jerome Coaxum-Bey. He was taken into custody by the Florence County Sheriff's Office with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Task Force. Coaxum-Bey was later indicted by a Florence County grand jury on charges of murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
During legal proceedings, it was revealed that the shooting stemmed from a dispute. Coaxum-Bey pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison for his role in the death of James Adam Culick.
