In the morning hours of January 15, 2016, a resident of West Ashley, South Carolina, 26-year-old Antwan Green, lost his life in a sudden act of violence. Green, a Black male, was inside Marvin's Barbershop on Savage Road in Charleston at approximately 9:40 a.m. He was seated on a couch when an unidentified man entered the establishment.
Without warning, the unknown individual opened fire, fatally wounding Green.
The gunman then fled the scene, reportedly heading east on Savage Road before turning north onto Etiwan Avenue. Despite a response from the Charleston County Sheriff's Office, which included the use of K-9 units to track the perpetrator, the suspect managed to escape and has not been apprehended since.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, investigators released surveillance footage showing a potential person of interest. However, this individual was quickly cleared of any involvement in the crime. In the years that have passed, the case has grown cold. No arrests have ever been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The Charleston County Sheriff's Office has periodically sought new information from the public, but as of early 2025, the murder of Antwan Green remains an unsolved homicide.
