In the summer of 2019, the life of 32-year-old Tyler H. Schaeffer was tragically cut short in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. On July 14th, Schaeffer was found shot in a roadway, the victim of a brutal and calculated act of violence. The events leading to his death began to unfold when he was confronted by Sebastian Kaisk over an alleged debt of $200.
Kaisk, armed with a gun, located Schaeffer outside a local grocery store. From there, he walked Schaeffer to a road near his home.
In the final moments of his life, Schaeffer was recorded by his assailant in a Snapchat video. The footage captured Schaeffer sitting on the ground, begging to be allowed to call his children. His pleas were denied. Shortly after the recording stopped, Kaisk shot Schaeffer in the upper body and the back of the head.
The investigation into Schaeffer's death led to the arrest of Sebastian Kaisk. The Snapchat video became a key piece of evidence in the prosecution's case against him. In February 2022, a Horry County jury convicted Kaisk of murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
At the sentencing, the court heard how the malicious killing was carried out over a small debt. Kaisk, who was 21 years old at the time of his conviction, was sentenced to a total of 48 years in prison for his crimes, with 43 years for the murder charge and an additional five years for the weapons charge.
