Do you know who murdered Kelsie Small? Kelsie Small, a 19-year-old female, was tragically killed in a shooting during the early hours of Saturday, May 9, 2020, in the Old Louisville neighborhood. A graduate of Central High School in 2018, she was pursuing a nursing degree at Northern Kentucky University with aspirations of becoming a nurse practitioner. Her mother described her as a vibrant and determined young woman who would do anything for anyone.
On the night of the incident, Small was driving friends home.
At approximately 2:30 a.m., in the 900 block of South First Street, shots were fired. Both Kelsie Small and a 15-year-old male passenger sustained gunshot wounds. They were both transported to the University of Louisville Hospital for treatment. While the teenage boy was expected to survive his injuries, Kelsie Small succumbed to her wounds and was pronounced dead at around 3:15 a.m.
The Louisville Metro Police Department's Homicide Unit launched an investigation into the shooting. In the months that followed, Kelsie's mother, Delisa Love, made public pleas for information, asserting that her daughter was not the intended target of the violence. Despite the ongoing investigation and the family's search for answers, there have been no public reports of any arrests made or suspects identified in connection with the death of Kelsie Small.
