In the summer of 2022, the life of 40-year-old Steven New, a Black male from Orangeburg, South Carolina, was tragically cut short. On the evening of June 27th, New was the victim of a fatal shooting. Another individual, 39-year-old Brian McFadden, also lost his life in the same incident. The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office was called to the scene to begin what would become a complex homicide investigation.
