On a Thursday afternoon, the quiet of a Spanish Lake neighborhood was shattered by the sound of what some residents dismissed as fireworks. It was, however, the sound of gunfire that ended the life of 18-year-old Patrone Pierce. Police received a call about a 'person down' and, upon arriving at the 1200 block of Reale Street, they found the young man lying in the front yard of a residence. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
