Lionel Hampton, aged 30, was shot and killed on February 8, 1997, in Kokomo, Indiana. The incident occurred in the parking lot of the Elks Lodge, located on East Havens Street. Lionel had been at the Elks Lodge that night, and as he exited, he was confronted by two unidentified men who shot him to death. The assailants fled the scene immediately after the shooting, heading east from the club.
